Fat is not a problem dude!!

Are you eating healthy fats?

Have you ever eaten a high carb meal and left
feeling hungry and craving more carbs
afterwards? You needed more healthy fats in
your meal!
If you are feeling hungry all the time, have dry
skin, poor body temperature regulation, and
extreme fatigue then you probably aren’t
eating enough healthy fats.
Fat plays a vital role in the human body.
Vitamins like A, D, and K are all fat-soluble,
which means they need to dissolve in fat
before being carried through your bloodstream
to perform their functions. Fats also boost our
metabolism because they are the biggest
energy source, even more so than carbs and
protein!
Five easy tips for incorporating healthy fat-
rich foods into your diet.

. Use healthy oils for salad dressing and
cooking. Olive oil is one of the most versatile
of all healthy oils. At room temperature it can
be paired with vinegar and seasonings for a
healthy vinaigrette dressing.

. Substitute avocado instead of mayo on your
sandwich. About 75 percent of the fat
contained in an avocado fruit is
monounsaturated fat (very good for you). It’s
also rich in dietary fiber, protein, potassium
and other essential minerals and vitamins.

. Eat tuna as a salad with olive oil and
vegetables. Oily fish are potent sources of
omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon, trout, sardines
or anchovies can be added to salads, healthy
pizza and sandwiches.

. Spread your favorite nut butter on a slice of
whole grain toast. Most nuts are rich in
monounsaturated fatty acids, but also contain
omega-3 fatty acids. You can consume nuts as
a healthy snack or add them to dishes for
extra flavor and texture.

. Sprinkle ground flaxseeds on your oatmeal or
add to your morning smoothie. Flaxseeds
contain very high levels of omega-3 fatty
acids. They are also a valuable source of
dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals. For a
nutritional boost you can add to your homemade
baked goods or vegetable stir-fry dishes.

We need fat in our diet for survival and it is all
about getting the right balance!
